Freezing Fresh Spinach

I recently found myself with a gigantic bag of left over fresh spinach.  So I froze it. Did you know you can do that?  Weeellllll, you can.

How to freeze fresh spinach

Here’s how (and you guys, it’s really tough, so pay attention….):

1. Make the decision to freeze your fresh spinach BEFORE it starts to wilt and go yucky.

2. Wash your spinach and let it dry completely. (Lay it on a kitchen towel on the counter to make sure.)

3. Get yourself some zip top bags and portion as you wish.

(*I used large bags and small bags. 3 big handfuls in the large bags, 1 big handful in the small bags. I’m thinking Large Bag=Soup/Lasagne  Small Bag =Smoothies)

4. Once the spinach is in the bag, flatten it out and roll it up to get all the air out. Unroll and then stack the bags. Label and place in the freezer.

5. Voila.  Pull them out anytime for a quick addition to soups, stews, lasagne, pasta or smoothies.
